The rule

YouTube pays between the 21st and 26th once AdSense earnings reach US$100 (€70, £60). Meta pays around the 21st at USD 5 in the US, USD 25 elsewhere. TikTok's FAQ states $50 on the 15th, X $30 every two weeks, Snapchat $100 cash-outs.

Key facts

  • YouTube adds the previous month's finalized earnings to AdSense for YouTube between the 7th and 12th and pays by the 21st to 26th, once the balance passes the threshold: US$100, €70 or £60.
  • Facebook and Instagram pay around the 21st for the previous month, with a minimum of USD 5 in the US, USD 25 elsewhere and USD 100 by wire transfer; smaller balances carry over.
  • TikTok's Creator Rewards FAQ states a USD 50 minimum redeemable on the 15th of each month; its payout page says the minimum depends on the payment method and the cycle on the program.
  • X pays Original Content Rewards every two weeks with a USD 30 minimum, through X Money in the US and Stripe elsewhere.
  • Snapchat Creator Rewards sit 14 days as pending, cash out at USD 100 or more, and typically take another 14 days or longer to reach the Hyperwallet Payout Portal.

Reaching a program's entry bar is step one. Step two is the payout itself: a minimum balance, a fixed calendar, a payout account, tax details and identity checks. Miss any of them and earned money sits in a balance, rolls to next month, or in some cases is forfeited. This page lines up those rules for YouTube, TikTok, Facebook, Instagram, X and Snapchat. Every figure links to the platform's own help page, read on 5 October 2026.

Which programs you qualify for in the first place is in creator monetization requirements by platform. This page starts where that one ends.

Currencies are as each platform states them. "No fee stated" means the page names no fee, not that the bank or the platform charges none.

Pinterest is not in the table. It "does not facilitate payment" for product tagging, affiliate links or brand partnerships, so there is no Pinterest payout to wait for (Pinterest Creators).

How does YouTube pay creators?

Through AdSense for YouTube. Finalized earnings for the previous month are added to your balance between the 7th and 12th, and paid by the 21st to 26th, provided you have reached your local threshold, have no holds on the account, and have provided US tax info (YouTube Help).

The thresholds are set per currency: US$100, €70, £60, A$100, C$100 (AdSense Help). The same page puts the identity verification threshold at $0, meaning you verify before you can be paid at all, and address verification at a $10 equivalent. A balance under the threshold rolls over to the next month, and any change to payment information, including removing a hold, must be done by the 20th (AdSense payment timeline).

Methods depend on your country: check, EFT, SEPA, wire transfer and PayPal Hyperwallet, the last with limited availability. In the US the options are EFT and PayPal Hyperwallet. Google stopped euro-denominated checks on 7 August 2026 (AdSense Help). After the payment is issued, EFT takes up to 7 business days, a check 2–4 weeks, a wire up to 15 business days (AdSense payment timeline).

How does TikTok pay creators?

TikTok's two pages give different levels of detail. The Creator Rewards FAQ says rewards can be redeemed on the 15th of each month if they meet the $50.00 USD minimum, after onboarding including tax information (TikTok Creator Academy).

The "Getting your rewards" page describes the Balance page that now holds all programs. Payout cycles are weekly, bi-weekly or monthly depending on the program, and you cannot choose yours. The minimum depends on your payment method; you can raise or lower it under "Minimum payout amount", and a regional maximum also applies. The final currency depends on the method. TikTok frames the minimum as a trade-off against "the fees charged by your selected payment method", and each payment channel may set its own floor (TikTok Creator Academy). The program list page shows your actual next payout date once setup is done, the balance passes the minimum, and TikTok has confirmed the rewards.

Setup means a payment method, tax information and identity verification (TikTok Creator Academy). Verification may also ask for proof of address (TikTok Creator Academy). If you use PayPal, finish its authentication on the PayPal side, or the payout can fail. Which videos earn at all is in TikTok Creator Rewards Program requirements.

How do Facebook and Instagram pay creators?

Both use Meta's payout system with the same thresholds. Payouts are released around the 21st for the previous month's earnings. In the US the minimum is USD 5. Elsewhere it is USD 100 by wire transfer and USD 25 by any other method. A smaller balance carries over until it reaches the minimum (Meta Business Help, Instagram Help). Instagram bonuses run on their own calendar: around the 7th and 21st, each for a two-week earning period of the previous month (Instagram Help).

On Facebook you choose one of four routes: sign in to your bank, link a bank account manually, link PayPal, or link a debit card. Tax information must be submitted and verified before the payout account is complete (Meta Business Help).

Three rules cost money if missed:

  • No payout account. You can earn up to USD 500 per tool and USD 1,500 across three without one. Earnings are forfeited if no payout account is added within six months (Meta Business Help).
  • Late changes. Updating payout details triggers a 5-day hold. Changes made less than ten days before the payment date push the payout to the next cycle.
  • Transit time. Payouts take 1–7 working days depending on the bank; international payouts up to ten days to the bank or PayPal.

Meta does not publish a fee amount. It says the payout breakdown in your dashboard includes "any relevant taxes, fees and adjustments" (Meta Business Help).

How does X pay creators?

Original Content Rewards payouts are "currently processed every two weeks and the minimum payout is $30". In the US they go through X Money. Outside the US you connect a Stripe payout account and complete identity verification through Stripe (X Help). The page states no payout fee. Revenue Sharing members, who must apply to the new program, do not repeat ID verification or payout setup if they have already completed them.

How does Snapchat pay creators?

Snapchat pays through a Payout Portal run by Hyperwallet. Onboarding asks for your legal name, contact details and birthdate in the app, then an activation email from Hyperwallet that "may take several weeks to arrive", then taxpayer verification that can take up to 2 weeks (Snapchat Support). Under the age of majority, a parent or guardian must consent.

Once onboarded, each reward sits as "Pending" for 14 days before it becomes "Available". A cash-out needs at least USD 100 available, and the cash typically takes another 14 days or longer to reach the Payout Portal. From there you withdraw to a bank account, PayPal or another option, and Hyperwallet charges transaction fees that depend on the method and any currency conversion. A balance unchanged for one year, or not cashed out in two, is cashed out automatically if it is at least USD 100; otherwise the reward lapses after those periods (Snapchat Support).

The program page adds that creators can cash out "a minimum of $100 daily" (Snapchat Support).

Worked example: when does January's money arrive?

The creator and the amounts are hypothetical; the rules are the ones above. A creator in Germany, paid in euros by YouTube and in US dollars elsewhere, not using wire transfer.

YOUTUBE (ADSENSE, EUR THRESHOLD €70)
January earnings€45
Added to balance 7–12 February: €45 < €70, rolls over
February earnings€40
Balance after 7–12 March€85
€85 ≥ €70: paid 21–26 March; SEPA or other method, then transit time
INSTAGRAM (OUTSIDE THE US, NON-WIRE MINIMUM USD 25)
January earningsUSD 18
Around 21 February: USD 18 < USD 25, carried over
February earningsUSD 12
Balance for the 21 March payoutUSD 30
Paid around 21 March, then 1–10 days to the bank or PayPal
Same creator choosing wire (USD 100 minimum): still unpaid
SNAPCHAT (USD 100 CASH-OUT MINIMUM)
Rewards shown in All Activity1 February
Pending period14 days
Available from15 February
Available balanceUSD 120
Cash out on 15 February
Typical arrival in Payout Portal: 1 March or later (14+ days)
Then a withdrawal to bank or PayPal, less Hyperwallet fees

January work turns into cash in late March on YouTube and Instagram, and typically in March or later on Snapchat. Two levers changed the dates: the threshold (YouTube and Instagram both rolled over once) and the method (wire would have stalled Instagram until USD 100). Budget for income on the date it arrives, not the month it was earned.

Checklist: before your first payout

  • Payout account added on every platform you earn on (Meta: within six months, or earnings are forfeited)
  • Tax information submitted and verified (YouTube, TikTok, Facebook and Snapchat all require it)
  • Identity verified (AdSense before any payment; TikTok; Stripe for X outside the US)
  • PayPal authentication finished on the PayPal side, if TikTok pays you there
  • Your currency's threshold noted: YouTube €70 or £60, not just US$100
  • On Meta outside the US, wire avoided unless your balance clears USD 100
  • TikTok minimum payout amount set to balance fee cost against frequency
  • Payment details changed by the 20th (AdSense) or ten days before payout (Meta)
  • Snapchat rewards cashed out before a year passes unchanged
  • Each payout matched to the platform's statement, for invoices and tax records

What platforms then report to tax authorities is in tax forms platforms send creators. Brand deals follow your own invoice terms instead: see how to invoice a brand deal.

Frequently asked questions

What happens if my balance is below the minimum payout?

It carries over. AdSense rolls an unmet threshold into the next month, and Meta carries a balance forward until it reaches the minimum. TikTok shows no payout date until the balance passes the minimum. Snapchat will not start a cash-out under USD 100.

Can I lose earnings I never withdrew?

On Facebook and Instagram, yes, if you add no payout account within six months. On Snapchat, a balance of at least USD 100 that sits unchanged for a year is cashed out automatically; rewards that cannot be paid lapse after one or two years.

Which platform pays most often?

Snapchat lets you cash out daily once USD 100 is available, and TikTok's payout page says some programs pay weekly. X pays every two weeks. YouTube, Facebook and Instagram pay monthly, with Instagram bonuses twice a month.

Do platforms charge a fee to pay me?

Snapchat's payout provider Hyperwallet charges withdrawal and currency-conversion fees, and TikTok says payment channels charge fees. YouTube, Meta and X name no fee on the pages checked; your bank may still charge one.
